Sonic the Hedgehog made his appearance in 1991 when Sega came out with “Sonic the Hedgehog” on their classic game system “Sega Genesis”. People used to play Sonic games in their living room, bedroom, and friend’s treehouse. Sonic instantly became a cult classic and was the answer to Nintendo’s Mario as an icon for game characters. It was such a phenomenon that Sega released a new Sonic game every year and sometimes even several ones a year. Slowly, the cast of sonic characters grew as Tails, Amy Rose, Knuckles, and others were introduced. Girls had crushes on Sonic and guys thought Tails was hot. Sonic fan sites appeared throughout the internet and game developers decided that you could play Sonic games on more than just a game console. Soon, online games based on Sonic the Hedgehog were created and enjoyed by millions from around the world. Wallpaper, screensavers, icons, refrigerator drawings, and who knows what else all devoted to Sonic games cropped up but one thing never changed – the high speed action and cartoon animation always brought gamers back to play their sonic game of choice.
